Krista Lukas teaches elementary school in Northern Nevada. She received her BA in literature from UC San Diego. Her poem "Letter from My Ancestors" was selected by Billy Collins for inclusion in The Best American Poetry 2006.  The same poem appears in Creative Writer's Handbook, the anthology New Poets of the American West, and in Russian translation in Polutona Magazine. Krista is the recipient a 2007 Nevada Arts Council Fellowship and the 2008 Robert Gorrell Award for Literary Achievement. Her book manuscript was a finalist for the 2009 May Swenson Poetry Award.
