Shann Ray grew up playing ball in Montana, as a boy on the Cheyenne reservation, and later in Livingston. His story collection American Masculine was selected by Esquire as one of Three Books Every Man Should Read, named a Kirkus Reviews Best Book and won a High Plains book award. He is also the author of Forgiveness and Power in the Age of Atrocity.
